Working out at the bird sanctuary has been incredibly rewarding. It introduces physical activity where I wouldn't be up and moving otherwise. The sanctuary is 3.5 acres and I haul water, food and cleaning supplies in a wagon all over the site. In addition to my hair once again getting redder, I've noticed increased muscle tone (woot).
Besides the physical benefits, it just feels good to be doing something like this. Its totally not glamorous work, I've hosing out cages, raking them, sweating and come home covered in grit and the occasional case of poison ivy. It's fun and challenging learning the birds personalities, given the ones that love attention some snuggle time and coaxing the shy ones to take a treat from your hand. It has also become a playground for photography for me
It's been a joy and a challenge and I hope you enjoy my most recent photography. I promise more updates to come once I get DragonCon decals and 2 other special projects out the door.
